Two Discovered Artists Worth Mentioning: 50 Ft. Wave & Swamparella
45
Firstly, Swamparella.
If you don't like cajun music, at least secretly, then I don't want to know ya. Okay, maybe that's a bit much, but, really, who doesn't like cajun or zydeco music? Now, don't go judging them badly because they're from Toronto. Because, if you happen to know the origin of the word cajun, then you know that that it means "an ethnic group mainly living in Louisiana, consisting of the descendants of Acadian exiles (French-speaking settlers from the maritime provinces of what is now Canada)." (Thanks, wikipedia.) So, you could say that it's music that's been around, and around and around, and back again.
Well, how about cajun meant for performing live, with fiddles, a washboard, a guitar, an accordion, a bassist and a percussionist, performing live to a dancing audience? Interested yet?
Then all you gotta do is go on over to www.swamperella.com. Click on the link that says "CDs" and you'll get yourself some mp3s, I believe there's about 5 of them from 3 albums that you don't have to purchase to have.
Note: If all you do is download mp3s that you don't pay for, and you don't eventually buy a CD or a ticket to a show or something, or at least help spread the word about the artists offering free songs, then you are being a bad person. Artists give their songs away for free so that they can get their name and their sound to the masses who've never heard of them. So, if you really like something, spread the word or purchase something, or go to their show, or any combination of those things. Or you will go to hell. Okay, I'm kidding, you won't go to hell, perhaps that pretty heavy-handed... I'm just saying, take into consideration that you got something for free, so they expect something from you. 'Cause, as they say, there is no such thing as a free lunch.

Secondly, 50 Foot Wave. 50 Foot Wave, is an artist, if you've heard them, then you know you heard them before. That's because the lead singer, Kristin Hersh, used to head Throwing Muses. They offer alt-rock music. Think, a female Kurt Cobain... yeah... a lot like that.
Since they are currently not a household word, they have 19 songs on their website to download that you can have without purchase. I suggest you do that -- http://50footwave.cashmusic.org/freemusic/
